Wakehurst Little Athletics Club
is a member of the Manly Warringah Little Athletics Center

Wakehurst is one of six athletic clubs that compete at the Center each week.

The Manly Warringah Little Athletics Center is one of the oldest and largest little athletics centres in Australia.

Wakehurst Little Athletics firmly believes in the Little Athletics Australia motto of "Family, Fun and Fitness" and strives to help athletes reach their full potential in an enjoyable atmosphere in a wide range of activities.

We are the "Local Club" for "The Forest" and surrounding suburbs. If you postcode  is 2084 to 2087 then we are the club for you.

Our season runs from September through to March the following year. Training is held on Wednesday evening at Lionel Watts oval, and competition is held on Saturday mornings (as well as the occasional Friday evening) at the Sydney Academy of Sport – Wakehurst Parkway Narrabeen.

Our local training seeks to encourage skill development in our young athletes in a safe and fun environment. We have a team of expertly training and qualified Coaches that will help the children learn the technical aspects of each event as well as develop agility, strength, speed and stamina.

Please review our Training Pages for more details.

Changes to Training Times for U7 and & U8 Athletes.

Please note that as of Wednesday 2nd November training for the U7 and U8 athletes will be from 5:00pm to 6:00pm with a warm-up starting from 4:50pm.

The U9 and older athletes training will commence as usual from 5:45pm for Warm-up and event sessions starting at 6:00pm and finishing at 7:30 pm.

The aim of this change is to reduce the size of groups by having additional coaches  available for both sessions. The New 60 minute format for the junior athletes should see  more intensive activity and less time spent between throws, jumps etc.

Introduction to Coaching ( ITC ) courses will be schelduled in 2012.

This is a great way to become more involved with your child's sport and assist your local club as a volunteer coach.
The courses are run by Little Athletics NSW, so find out more about the course and schedule dates at :
www.laansw.com.au      Look under "Education and Training" for "Coach Education".
